Central Districts and Northern District set for SA Rugby League grand final

CENTRAL Districts will look to cap an unbeaten season with a premiership when it takes on Northern District in tomorrow's SA Rugby League grand final.

CENTRAL Districts will look to cap an unbeaten season with a premiership when it takes on Northern District in tomorrow's SA Rugby League grand final.

The Elizabeth-based club won through to the Victoria Park decider after finishing the regular season as minor premier.

The defending champion then saw off Henley 40-16 in the last month's major semi-final to advance to the showpiece game.

Roosters coach Terry Budd said hitting Norths hard early would be central to his side's success.

"Our key is our defence," Budd said.

"In that first 10 minutes we put backsides on ground.

"Your forwards win big games and set the platform."

Budd said twins Ben and Daniel Towell as well as Bradley Peters had been standouts this season.

He said hardwork had helped Central maintain its consistency through the campaign.

"We really work on a lot of fitness and a lot of defence which we base our game on.

"We're a much stronger team than we were last year bench-wise."

Norths qualified for the grand final by beating Henley 22-16 in last week's preliminary final.

The Roosters saw off Norths 30-0 earlier this season, but Budd expected a closer contest tomorrow.

"They have played some really good football over the last two weeks," he said.

"We'll have to be on our game or they can upset us."

The SA Rugby League grand final will be held at Victoria Park, Fullarton Rd, Adelaide, tomorrow.

The division one match between Central Districts and Northern District kicks off at 3pm, while the division two decider between Mitchell Park and Eels begins at 12.30pm.
