A rapper known as “Little Devil” will face trial alongside the woman he allegedly conspired with to sexually abuse her child.
Caleb Vercher, 32, and his co-accused – a woman in her 30s who cannot be named to protect the child’s identity – denied all charges in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Mr Vercher, of Ridgehaven, and the woman pleaded not guilty to two counts of committing an act of gross indecency in the presence of a child.
The woman also pleaded not guilty to having sexual intercourse with the child while in a position of authority – by having the child perform a sex act on her.
Mr Vercher pleaded not guilty to aiding, abetting or procuring the act.
Court documents allege the offences occurred in a suburb north of Adelaide over a four-month period last year.
In November, Mr Vercher – who promotes himself online as a musician and rapper under the names “Little Devil” and “LD Diablo” – asked the court to authorise a number of subpoenas to be sent to the Department for Child Protection.
He said the court should order DCP to tender the alleged victim’s psychological reports, and her interview with social workers, so that he could prepare his defence case.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Magistrate Roderick Jensen remanded Mr Vercher in custody, and the woman on continuing bail, and adjourned the charges to the District Court for arraignment in April.
