BREAD laced with poison has been found in an Athelstone dog park, and is being investigated by the RSPCA.
The poison substance was found at Padulesi Park on Friday.
However, Campbelltown Council warned residents on its social media channels only on Monday that “bait” had been removed by council staff from the park following several reports from the public.
A council spokesman said any dogs who became ill after visiting the park should see a vet immediately.
“If possible, a sample of the bait should also be taken to the vet for analysis to assist in treatment,” he said.
“Dog owners are reminded to remain vigilant when exercising their dogs, particularly in off-leash areas. Baits left out in the open could also be picked up by a child.”
The council and the RSPCA have been sought for comment.
