A northern suburbs man who was using $400 of methamphetamine a day was dealing the drug with his wife, a court has heard.

Caroline Edwards, 38, and Bradley James Elvin Edwards, 43, of Munno Para West were caught at their home last year with 35.7g of methamphetamine, as well as nearly $6000 in cash.

Ms Edwards was charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled drug, while Mr Edwards faced one count.

They pleaded guilty to all charges.

Judge Ian Press said police found methamphetamine and $890 cash in Mr Edwards pockets when they visited his home.

In the lounge room, they found multiple press-sealed bags and another bag containing methamphetamine.

More bags were found in the kitchen and bedroom, where police also discovered an ice pipe and $5040 cash.

More meth was found in an open safe – totalling 35.7g across the house.

Both originally suggested they did not know about the contents of the safe.

Ms Edwards was also caught with three plastic bags of methamphetamine and $1040 cash in her handbag in December 2018 after police pulled over a car in which she was a passenger.

Judge Press said Ms Edwards told police the drugs were hers, however, police found text messages suggesting drug deals.

He said her dealing was born out of “financial troubles” in her family while her marriage was “not on strong ground”.

She had suffered “violence and abuse” during her life and dealt with post traumatic stress disorder, Judge Press said.

Australia's Growing Drug Crisis

He said Mr Edwards’ methamphetamine addiction had “slowly worsened” since 2012 and he was “sure it was no coincidence this occurred around the same time as your relationship began”.

Mr Edwards was using about $400 of methamphetamine a day at the time he was caught, Judge Press said.

He said both had taken steps towards rehabilitation and showed remorse for their crimes.

Ms Edwards was sentenced to three years, four months and 25 days in jail with a one year and seven month non-parole period.

Mr Edwards was given a three year, one month and 19 day sentence – with one year and seven months non-parole – to be served on home detention.
