Bartender Aaron Brown jailed for indecently assaulting two teenage women

A father who drove teen customers home, removed a passed out woman’s underwear and was found on top of her by police has claimed his sickening rampage was ‘consensual’.

What happens after a sexual assault?

A father who insisted on driving his teenage customers home before indecently assaulting them says he did so to satisfy his own needs.

Aaron Paul Brown, 41, preyed on two vulnerable women at the bar he worked at and still claimed to police it was consensual, despite one being passed out.

The Adelaide District Court heard the two victims, both aged 18, attended a Fairview Park hotel where Brown worked as a bartender in September of 2018.

When they were leaving the bar Brown insisted on driving them home.

Once they got to the victim’s house, Brown went inside – despite being told by the women that they did not want him to come in.

One of the women passed out on the couch.

The other woman left the room to call her father and when she returned she saw Brown had removed her friend’s underwear.

Brown then followed the other victim into a bedroom and grabbed her thigh and tried to kiss her.

She managed to get away.

“However you followed her into the hallway, grabbed her arm, pinned her to the wall and kissed her on the lips,” Judge Slattery said.

The victim then asked Brown to leave and left the room to take a call.

When she came back into the bedroom she found Brown on top of her friend.

Police attended the property and found Brown naked from the waist down.

“You raised your hands saying it was ‘consensual’,” Judge Slattery said.

The court heard the victim Brown was found on top of had to be shaken with force by police before she woke up.

Brown, of Gulfview Heights, pleaded guilty to three charges of indecent assault.

The court heard Brown, who is a father-of-two, had mainly worked in the hospitality industry throughout his life.

The court heard Brown, who is remorseful for his actions, opportunistically exploited the situation with the victims to satisfy his own needs.

“You further stated that your offending was motivated by feelings of unhappiness within your marriage and that, at the time, you were seeking female attention,” Judge Slattery said.

Judge Slattery sentenced Brown to one year and five months jail, with a non-parole period of 10 months.

“You are aware of the seriousness of this offending and you regret the bad decision that you made on this night,” he said.

“However, the reasoning for your offending … is no excuse for these offences that you have committed against two young and very vulnerable women.”
