A meth-addicted mother and her taser-wielding accomplice stole thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes from Woolworths to sell on the black market, a court heard.
Amy Corinne Campbell, 30, committed the robberies so she could fuel her expensive drug habit.
The Adelaide District Court heard Campbell and her co-accused entered Woolworths at Gillies Plain on November 1, 2021.

The court heard they approached the victim at the front service counter unpacking cigarettes, and Campbell’s co-accused held out a taser and told her “we’ll be taking those”.

Campbell and her co-accused then attended the Para Hills Woolworths two hours later and approached the second victim who was working in the express area.

The court heard Campbell’s co-accused pulled out the taser and activated it, and they left with a box of cigarettes valued at $3000.

“You and (your co-accused) had specifically targeted the two Woolworths stores for the purpose of stealing cigarettes that could be sold on the black market,” Judge Barklay said.

“The reason that you involved yourself in the robberies was to make money so that you could buy drugs.”

The court heard the first victim ended up leaving her job because she was so scared and uncomfortable at work, while the second victim suffers from panic attacks.

The Hillcrest mother pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery.

The court heard Campbell had been using drugs daily at the time of her offending and at the peak of her addiction was injecting a minimum of a gram of methamphetamine per day.

Campbell was trying to rehabilitate herself in custody and remain abstinent from drugs so she could be a good mother, the court was told.

“Your offending involved vulnerable targets who were unable to defend themselves,” Judge Barklay said. “Your offending was a pre-planned, targeted attack.”

Judge Barklay sentenced Campbell to three years and 10 months jail, with a non-parole period of two years.

The sentence was backdated to November 6, 2021.
