A Davoren Park woman has appeared in court on “fairly serious” charges of mistreating two Staffordshire cross dogs which were found in an “emaciated condition” by the RSPCA.
Amanda Conroy appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday morning charged with two counts of the ill treatment of an animal.
Between October 8 and November 18 last year in Davoren Park she failed to provide appropriate and adequate food for a female Staffordshire cross Roxy which was found in an emaciated condition, a charge sheet lodged with the court reveals.
She also allegedly failed to provide adequate and appropriate food for a male Staffordshire cross dog called Tun during the same period which was also found in an emaciated condition.
On Monday, Magistrate Mark Semmens encouraged Conroy, who appeared unrepresented, to get some legal advice.
“They are fairly serious matters,” Mr Semmens said.
“You need some advice on these matters.”
For the RSPCA, Jillian Smith said the accused had been served with a brief of evidence by the association.
Conroy did not enter a plea on Monday morning.
She will reappear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on January 13.
