Passengers on the Gawler line will need to catch substitute buses as the line closes to complete works over two weekends in December.
Adelaide Metro announced the line would be closed for night works on weekend one, and for a full weekend on weekend two, just eight days before Christmas.
On Friday December 1 till Sunday December 3 night works will be conducted after 10pm until last service.
The full closure weekend will run from the first service on Saturday, December 16 till last service on Sunday, December 17.
During these times substitute buses will operate between Adelaide Railway Station and Gawler Railway Station departing from Stop D on the north side of North Terrace.
The closures have been put in place to conduct new signalling work on new active pedestrian crossings at North Adelaide Railway Station and the Parklands.
The plans also include the completion of the Elizabeth Turnback facility.
In their announcement, Adelaide Metro reminded passengers that while every effort is made for substitute buses to be accessible for all passengers, some mobility devices might not fit.
Adelaide Metro said that customers who are unable to use substitute buses should contact the Torrens Transit Mile End to request an accessible taxi.
The Department apologised to passengers for the inconvenience during these temporary closures, and thanked commuters for their patience while these works are undertaken.
