A drug addict cut off his home detention bracelet before threatening numerous people across northern Adelaide with a pistol and sawn-off shotgun, a court has heard.

The man refused to leave the City Watchhouse on Thursday to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to face numerous charges arising from his alleged two-day crime spree.

The 33-year-old, whose name has been suppressed, tried to escape from heavily-armed STAR Group officers on a bicycle when they raided a Burton property on Monday.

Magistrate Greg Fisher agreed to remand him in custody as police continued to look for a pistol and sawn-off shotgun allegedly aimed at various random victims.

Police prosecutor Brevet Sergeant Chris Manchip told Mr Fisher the crime spree began when a silver Hyundai sedan was stolen from a Blakeview property on December 21.

The accused man and an associate then allegedly threatened to shoot a man inside his Andrews Farm home at 4.50am the following day if he did not give them drugs. Sgt Manchip said the man was hit in the face with the shotgun before his Subaru station wagon was stolen.

A short time later a man walking home at Blakeview was threatened by a man with a sawn-off shotgun and pistol.

“(The accused) took a packet of cigarettes and punched the victim in the face,” he said.

The next incident allegedly occurred around 7am at Walkerville when a man drinking coffee with two friends beside a car was threatened by a man with a shotgun and pistol.

“(The accused) raised both firearms and demanded the victim’s wallet and mobile phone,” said Sgt Manchip.

Twelve hours later — at 7.30pm — a motorist at Ingle Farm drove off at speed when the driver of a silver car pointed a pistol at him.

The final incident occurred at 9.15pm at Valley View when a man playing soccer with friends was confronted by a man with a pistol and sawn-off shotgun who demanded the keys to his Ford XR6 ute.

“The shotgun was open and he snapped it closed,” he said.

Sgt Manchip said several of the victims had “positively identified” the accused man.

“He had chopped off his home detention bracelet and has a significant amount of pending matters, including breach of bail,” he said.

Sgt Manchip successfully sought a suppression order on the man’s identify while police investigations into the crime spree continued. The case was adjourned until July.
