New designs have been revealed for a $140m, state-of-the-art hospital in Adelaide’s inner south as a part of the revamped Repat Health Precinct.
Nexus Hospitals and SA Health penned an agreement to develop the new medical centre that would see a new cutting-edge hospital and allied health centre.
The new facility is set to feature eight theatre beds, 30 overnight beds, a 20-chair renal dialysis unit, a GP clinic, radiology, pathology, a pharmacy and a cafe.
There will also be dedicated areas for specialist medical and other allied health services, and an integrated 350-space multi-deck carpark.
The designs have also incorporated an allowance for a part of the carpark to be converted into additional tenancy space in the future, adding flexibility to the building.
Earlier this year, the 48-bed Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Rehabilitation facility moved on to the site as a part of the $125m revitalisation of the health precinct.
“We are delivering on our commitment to continue the work on expanding services on the Repat site, and this new hospital will provide important additional clinical capacity to the broader health system,” Minister for Health and Wellbeing Chris Picton said.
“Part of the arrangements will be access for people on public waiting lists to be able to get their surgery at the site.”
Supermarket giant Coles also announced they will be building a purpose-built supermarket to assist those living with dementia.
Demolition works have commenced to make way for the new facility. Construction is expected to start in early 2023 and is forecast to be completed by the end of 2024, for the hospital’s opening in 2025.
