Three men will stand trial for the alleged horrific bashing and gang rape of a South East man following a terrifying home invasion.
According to Mount Gambier Magistrates Court documents, the three men allegedly committed a number of vicious attacks on the man, who lives in a South East town the Messenger has chosen not to name, over the two days before Christmas.
The trio is accused of attempting to gang rape the victim with a rolling pin, amongst other alleged horrific acts.
The men have not been identified to protect the identity of their alleged victim.
According to court documents, the alleged home invasion and attacks occurred between December 23 and 24, 2021.
Over the course of two days the man was allegedly violently bashed where he had been allegedly “kicked in the face” and dragged by his hair, before the group allegedly began “shaving his hair.”
According to court documents the man was also assaulted with a bottle, a rolling pin and whipped with a hose, before they allegedly tried to rape him with the rolling pin.
Two of the defendants, aged 36 and 27, from the South East were arrested on December 25, the day after the alleged offence and fronted court on December 29, 2021, making a bid for bail, which was later withdrawn.
Police prosecutors said the third man, 37, of no fixed address was “caught up with” at a later date before he was arrested on February 4, 2022.
The trio have been charged with 10 separate charges including trespassing with the intention to cause an offence, unlawful imprisonment, six counts of aggravated assault, aggravated intent to cause harm and rape.
All three will face trial in July.
