Major forestry company Qube released a statement on Tuesday morning to the ASX, advising that an employee had been killed in the crash.

“Qube advises that an employee has died following an incident earlier today while driving from Mt Gambier to a work site on Callendale Rd approximately 20km west of Penola, South Australia,” it said.

The company said the man was travelling to work when his car was involved in a single vehicle rollover.

“Any related Qube Forestry operations in the area have ceased and a full safety investigation is under way. Counselling is being offered to all affected employees,” it said.

“Qube managing director Paul Digney said, ‘On behalf of everyone at Qube I wish to express my sincere condolences to the man’s family at this difficult time’.”

The crash follows a two-truck collision in Wye, near the South Australian and Victorian border about 3.25am on Tuesday.

The trucks collided on Glenelg River Rd, about 1.5km north of Tillers Rd.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Road closures are in place on Glenelg River Rd and northbound traffic has been diverted onto Tillers Rd with southbound traffic diverted on to Green Point Rd.

The restrictions are expected to be in place until 5pm tonight.

Police have asked the public to avoid both crash sites.
