Mount Gambier L-plater and supervisor allegedly caught drug driving in alleged unsafe car

An L-plater and his supervisor, both in their 20s, are set to front court after they were allegedly caught drug-driving in a car with ‘significant’ brake and steering defects.

A learner driver and his supervisor have landed in hot water after they were allegedly caught behind the wheel drug-driving.

The two Mount Gambier men, a 21-year-old learner and 23-year-old supervisor, were stopped on Penola Rd just before 8.30pm on Saturday allegedly testing positive to cannabis.

Police found cannabis and further drug paraphernalia following a search of the Commodore sedan.

According to a police spokesman a check of the vehicle revealed “significant defects with respect to the brakes and steering”.

The two Mount Gambier men have been summoned to appear in court and may face drug driving charges pending forensic analysis of their drug samples.

The driver was also reported for possess cannabis and possess equipment and his car was defected before being towed away.
