Today, The Advertiser and Messenger launch a new community website for readers in the South East, The Mount Gambier News.

The Mount Gambier News is a digital-only publication designed to provide breaking news and information for residents of Mount Gambier, the Limestone Coast and across the South East of the state.

It will cover important crime and court updates, development news, and stories that showcase the success of local residents, such as Cawthorne Fisheries owner Nicky Cawthorne, who says things are looking up for rock lobster fishers this season.

Journalist Jessica Ball grew up on a farm at Gerrigerrup often her visiting family in Mount Gambier. After studying in Adelaide she has forged a career in regional media from sports reporter to weekly newspaper editor and joins The Mount Gambier News from The Shepparton News in regional Victoria.

The Mount Gambier News follows in the footsteps of Messenger’s other successful digital-only community websites: The Adelaide Hills News; The Barossa, Clare and Gawler News and The Port Lincoln News.
