Kym Joseph Lavia faces court charged with stalking former partner, hides from cameras exiting courthouse
An alleged stalker has copped a stern rebuke after blasting a magistrate and claiming allegations from his former partner are “based on lies” in court.

An alleged stalker appeared to hide his face from the media as he fled court this week.
The man held documents to shield his face as he left the Mount Gambier Magistrate Court.
Kym Joseph Lavia, 32, appeared unrepresented on Thursday charged with one count of aggravated stalking and one count of possess equipment to use with controlled drug.
He is yet to enter a plea.
According to court documents, the alleged offending took place in Mount Gambier over five days between March and April last year.
Magistrate Koula Kossiavelos warned the defendant to get a lawyer as he faced a possible jail term.
“Last time we spoke you were in custody and you were going to seek legal advice,” Ms Kossiavelos said.
“It’s not a case of coming backwards and forwards to court without (a lawyer)”.
Mr Lavia attempted to argue his case by saying court he could prove his former partner’s allegations were “based on lies”.
“I do have video and photo evidence,” he said.
Ms Kossiavelos cut Mr Lavia off and said he could raise his evidence and concerns with his lawyer
“That’s something that a lawyer and prosecution can negotiate effectively,” Ms Kossiavelos said.
“I will advise you to get a lawyer because they know the law,” Ms Kossiavelos said.
The Mount Gambier man is expected reappear in March.
