Friends and loved ones have paid a touching tribute to Bordertown 20-year-old Macey Inglis after she tragically passed away in a car accident on Monday morning.

The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

Friends and loved ones have been left shocked and devastated after Bordertown 20-year-old Macey Inglis tragically passed away following a fatal crash just over the border in Victoria.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Langkoop, about 33km from Naracoorte, which occurred on January 9.

It’s believed the car was travelling along Casterton-Naracoorte Road left the road and rolled just after 7.30am.

Macey tragically died at the scene.

Shania Willemsen, who saw Ms Inglis just one hour before her tragic passing, said she had been left shaken by the sudden passing of her close friend.

“On Monday morning she came in and woke me up at 6am gave me a hug and kiss and said goodbye — I wish I had never let her go,” she said.

“We were meant to be heading to a rodeo next weekend at Penola together. So I just said to drive safe and I’ll see you next weekend.”

“It’s never going to be the same that’s for sure.”

Grateful for the years of wonderful memories the two shared through their shared passion for rodeos, Ms Willemsen said she would still be heading to the Penola meet — holding a special tribute for her friend.

“I’m planning on getting everyone to wear her favourite colour turquoise,” Ms Willemsen said.

“She also loved the grand entry and carrying the Australian flag at rodeos so I’ve planned to carry the Australian flag for her.”

Georgie Beighton, from the Penola and Districts Community Rodeo club, said the tragic loss would be felt not only in South Australia, but Australia-wide.

Ms Beighton passed on her, as well as the club’s condolences, to Ms Inglis’ family.

“She had a very wide circle of friends through rodeo, cutting and showing cattle — she’s going to be someone that is very sorely missed,” Ms Beighton said.

“A lot of people are going to have very big holes in their hearts now.”

Natalie Hann, from the SA Junior Heifer Expo, said the organisation was deeply saddened by the loss of one of their “heifer expo family members”.

“We are thinking of Macey’s family and friends at this difficult time,” she said.

Other friends took to Facebook in touching tribute.

“The most kind soul on this earth, the life of the party and most of all, my best mate — it hasn’t sunk in yet that you’re gone,” Annabelle Hocking said.

“What I would do to watch you run in that arena, have a cold one with you and watch you wave goodbye — one last time.

“To think that you just moved into your very own house last week, the house that we had planned to make so many memories in.

“The fact that will no longer happen, breaks my heart, although your life has been cut so short, the memories I made with you, I will forever love and cherish.”
