A 50-METRE indoor pool – the first in Adelaide’s east – is planned for Peregrine Corporation’s seven-storey head office in Kensington, final designs for the project have revealed.
The State Government has released the On The Run franchise owner’s plans for corner of The Parade and Portrush Rd as it starts three weeks of public consultation on the $50 million project.
The Eastern Courier Messenger this month reported on a Development Assessement Commission report which stated the project would include offices on six storeys and “accommodation suites”, a “gym” and “pool” on the seventh floor.
Last week, in a final submission the government, consultant Michael Osborn, of Fyfe Pty Ltd, revealed the pool would be Olympic-length and would be “operated by a third party and accessible to the wider community”.
Peregrine Corporation, owned by the Shanin Family, wants to redevelop its head office to cater for up to 400 workers.
Planning Minister John Rau will assess the plans, which he declared were of “economic significance to the state” when the project was announced in November last year.
Work was expected to start later this year and be completed in 2018, subject to approval.
Consultation on the plans is open until October 24 at sa.gov.au/planning/majordevelopments
