Global fashion and homewares chain TK Maxx has been given approval to convert the Pasadena Target into its first outlet in South Australia.
Mitcham Council has approved plans by the retail giant to spend $460,000 fitting out the store at the Pasadena Shopping Centre, on Fiveash Drive.
TJX International – which runs TK Maxx – has more than 500 stores across seven countries, including on the east coast of Australia.
This would be the first outlet to open in the SA.
Its Australian website says the chain offers “great value on ever-changing selections of brand name, designer, and other high-quality fashion apparel and homewares for a whole lot less than a department store or on the high street”.
TK Maxx declined to comment.
Chapley Group general manager property Marcus Collins said there was an “exciting new retailer” on its way to the Pasadena Shopping Centre.
However, out of respect for the new tenant, he declined to name the new retailer.

The Advertiser reported yesterday that Target at Pasadena would shut its doors next month.
A Target spokeswoman said the store would close on Saturday, May 30, and its 10 employees redeployed to nearby stores.
“Target wants to thank our Pasadena team, the local community and all our customers for shopping with us,” the spokeswoman said.
Target Pasadena was the company’s 300th store and opened in 2012 after the $24 million redevelopment of the Pasadena Shopping Centre.
It was the state’s first small-format store which had product ranges tailored to the surrounding area, as well as Target’s national-first bra-fitting suite.
Target has been contacted about whether any more SA stores will close.
Earlier this month, The Advertiser reported that Wesfarmers said Bunnings and Officeworks, which it also owns, had been performing well, but momentum had slowed at Kmart and Target.
