After a decade in business Hawthorn cafe Pantry on Egmont has been named the best brunch spot in Adelaide’s east.

The Egmont Avenue cafe has become a popular haunt for local brunch fans and received more than 16 per cent of customer votes in our latest Delicious local poll.

Owner Silas Ulbrich said following the “golden rule” is what makes the brunch spot the best in the east.

“We make sure we treat our guests the way that we would want to be treated, we try to greet and acknowledge every guest and make them feel special and like a family member,” he said.

“Obviously we also put a lot of importance on the quality of our offering as well.

“Our head chef goes out of his way to make sure he never ever serves anything to anyone that he wouldn’t be happy to receive himself and my staff make sure that they treat our guests in a way they would want to be treated themselves.”

Since opening 10 years ago, the cafe has seen a huge boost in the local brunch culture with its creative offerings capturing the attention of customers and social media fans.

Mr Ulbrich said the not-so-classic monthly french toast specials – ranging from strawberry cheesecake to hot cinnamon scroll – were a customer favourite alongside Turkish eggs.

“It’s quite bold flavours and something a little bit different,” he said.

“Don’t get me wrong, a good eggs benny is fantastic but it’s just overdone … I like to offer things that are a little bit different and you don’t see in ever snack bar, corner store and brunch cafe across Australia.”

Melrose Park cafe The Middle Store was voted second best with Norwood’s Argo on the Parade rounding out the top three.
