A man has been rushed to hospital after a car ploughed through a fenced-off work site at a major eastern suburbs shopping centre.

A construction worker has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car on a fenced-off work site at Burnside Village,
Emergency services were called to Sydney St at Glenside, where construction is currently underway on a massive expansion of Burnside Village shopping centre, after reports a car had careered through a gate.
Police said the Mazda CX5 sedan collided with the large gate, which struck the 62-year-old Newton man.
The man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with minor injuries, while the female driver – a 34-year-old Glenside woman – was taken to Flinders Medical Centre with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Owner Cohen Group is doubling the footprint of the eastern suburbs shopping centre to 38,850sq m, including an additional 80 stores, in a bold plan to attract keen shoppers to the area.
After a 30-month delay to the project caused by Covid-19, works kicked off early last year with a slated completion date of March 2025.
