Greens select child educator to contest Boothby — SA’s most marginal federal seat

The Greens have chosen early child educator and former state election candidate Stef Rozitis to contest Boothby, the most marginal SouthAustralian federal seat at the upcoming election.
Boothby is held by Nicolle Flint for the Liberal Party with a slender margin of just 2.7 per cent after an extensive redistribution.
Both major parties have targeted the seat, which stretches from the coast at Brighton to the bottom of the Adelaide Hillsat Blackwood, as a must win of the South Australian federal campaign.
Ms Rozitis, 44, said she would use her experience in teaching to help protect the environment and carefor the most vulnerable people in the community.
“Education is at the heart of everything we do,” Ms Rozitis said.
“I want to have all levels of education equitably funded.
“I’m honoured to put myself forward to be a Green voice for our community.”
Ms Rozitis, who contested Badcoe for the Greens at the 2018 state election gaining eight per cent of the vote, becomes the third woman to stand for Boothby after Ms Flint, who is recontesting for the Liberals, and Labor candidate Nadia Clancy.
Mitcham councillor Jane Bange was the Greens candidate at the 2016 Federal Election, winning 8.4 per cent of the primary vote.
Another current Mitcham councillor, Karen Hockley, also contested Boothby in 2016 winning 20.7 per cent for the Nick XenophonTeam, now Centre Alliance, that is yet to announce a candidate for Boothby.
Other candidates declared for Boothby include Peter Salerno for the United Australia Party and Trevor Jones as an independent.
