FROM a brewery nestled in the suburbs to a family-run chocolate factory, the best of the east have been recognised in the inaugural Eastside Business Awards.

The winners across the 10 categories — such as best restaurant, cafe and bar — were announced tonight at a ceremony at St Peters Town Hall.

More than 8300 public votes helped decide a list of finalists, with the winners selected by a panel of judges from Norwood, Payneham & St Peters Council and the Eastern Courier Messenger.

Among the winners was Magill Rd Mexican food store Chile Mojo which took out Best Independent Retailer.

Owners Morgen Britt and Joel Adams were thrilled by the award.

“You never know when you are above ground at any time so it is a great to realise that we are known,” Mr Adams says.
