Current SA Covid testing site wait times: Where to go to avoid the massive queues

Testing sites across the state have seen a dramatic decrease in waiting times as RAT site opens, here’s a list of where you can get the fastest PCR test.

Waiting times for Covid-19 testing have subdued as changes to requirements come into play and the state’s first rapid antigen test distribution hub launches.

Thousands of free RATs were collected during opening day on Thursday while Premier Steven Marshall indicated eight new centres would open over the next 10 days, including in major regional centres.

The first day of distributing free RATs for close contacts went smoothly after initial lines of cars queuing down Greenhill Rd to Anzac Highway, along West Tce and back to Goodwood Rd before the south parklands collection centre opened at 7am.

But by midmorning the wait was down to about 10 minutes and once inside, the pick-up of packs of two free tests took less than five minutes, according to police.

At Thursday’s press conference, Premier Steven Marshall confirmed SA had recorded 3669 new cases and four more deaths.

It came after 3715 new cases and seven deaths were announced on Wednesday.

There are more than 80 testing sites across SA, including almost 30 in metro Adelaide.

A crowdsourcing information website has also been developed, “Find a RAT”, to allow people to access data on which chemists and supermarkets have stock available.
