A young hockey player has been remembered for his “happy-go-lucky personality” after he was killed in a horror crash at Bordertown on Saturday.
Connor Williams died on Saturday night after his Subaru station wagon crashed into a tree on Naracoorte Rd and burst into flames.
His sister, Haley Pearse, posted to Facebook following the devastating crash.
“I wish I could turn back time … even just by a couple of days …,” she wrote.
Many reached out to the grieving sister extending their thoughts and prayers.
A tribute posted by the Victor Harbor Hockey Club Inc. on Monday said Connor was a “force on the field”.
“The Victor Harbor Hockey Club is deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of one of our own, Connor Williams,” the post reads.
“He was a force on the field, had a great sportsmanship attitude to our game and club and had a happy-go-lucky personality to match.”
Connor played hockey for the club since he was apart of the Minkies and Under 13s team and later became captain of the Victor Grey Mens team for several years.
“A true model of a player if you ever did see one,” the post went on to say.
“Connor will be greatly missed and will forever hold his place in our Victor Grey Mens team.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Willow, Sharon and family at this difficult time.”
Tatiara Mayor Liz Goosens said she, and the rest of the Bordertown community, would be wrapping their arms around Connor’s family during the difficult time.
“Our hearts go out to the family and emergency volunteers,” she said.
“As a community we will rally behind them and offer them all the support we can.”
Ms Goosens said concerns were mounting over the main thoroughfare after it claimed Connor’s life.
“We’re certain it’s a dangerous road,” she said.
“We’ve had concerns and expressed it to the government.”
Ms Goosens said she was unaware of the circumstances surrounding the recent fatal crash and what caused it.
“We feel it’s happening more and more,” she said.
“Any loss of life, and especially a young person, it affects the whole community. We’re a close knit community.
“Young people are our future.”
