Cody James Seeley, 26, pleaded guilty to 12 charges, including fleeing hotel quarantine

A father will remain behind bars after boarding a plane from Victoria, escaping police at Adelaide Airport – and then fleeing hotel quarantine.

A young Adelaide father will serve three months in prison after he was caught walking down a CBD street after fleeing hotel quarantine last year.

Cody James Seeley, 26, pleaded guilty to 12 charges via video link in Christies Beach Magistrate Court, including failing to comply with bail agreement and failing to comply authorising officer direction.

The court also heard on August 30, 2020, Seeley was directed not to travel from Victoria to South Australia by police, who denied his cross border application.

Seeley however boarded the flight, with police awaiting his arrival.

“You were directed by police to collect your baggage then remain at the airport, awaiting further instructions,” Magistrate Duncan said.

“As you collected your baggage, you left the airport and began running across the western courtyard.

Seeley was captured on CCTV hiding in bushes and making phone calls.

“A number of police patrols conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate you.”

The court heard through negations between police and Seeley via mobile phone, he returned to the airport and taken into quarantine at the Pullman Hotel for 14 days,

The court heard just before 7pm on September 10, Seeley had fled the hotel.

Police were able to locate Seeley a short time later along Pultney St and was arrested.

“You said you suffered from PTSD and that is why you had left the hotel.”

Seeley spent nearly 13 hours in custody before his bail was granted.

The court also heard Seeley had stolen several items from Bunnings and was found with an ice pipe since his release.

Seeley was taken into custody on July 10.

Magistrate Duncan sentenced Seeley to six months jail with three months to be serve, backdated to the date he was taken into custody.

Once released Seeley will enter a $500 good behaviour bond for two years.
