An alleged drug dealer on “serious charges with very serious consequences” was told by a magistrate she could be facing a potential jail term.
Yasmin El-Masri, 23, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, after an alleged drugs and gun bust at Oakden on June 18.
Self represented, El-Masri told the court she wanted to plead guilty to all charges.
Magistrate Nick Alexandrides told El-Masri her charges could not be finalised in the Magistrates Court as they would have to eventually be committed to the District Court.
“You’re charged with a major indictable offence, amongst many other offences,” he said.
“The penalties for the offences of which you’ve been charged, if you plead guilty or they’re proven at trial, carry significant penalties, including potentially imprisonment.”
El-Masri told the court she was working as a medical receptionist.
Mr Alexandrides told El-Masri she would need to make an application for Legal Aid or look into other options.
El-Masri, of Lightsview, is charged with multiple offences, including trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug and 10 counts of possessing a firearm.
The court heard there were no co-accused in the matters.
A prosecutor asked for a six-month adjournment for the ballistics report on the firearms and the certificate of analysis of the drugs allegedly seized.
“You need a ballistics report on a gel gun?” Mr Alexandrides replied.
The court heard the presumptive test on the drugs allegedly seized showed it was marijuana.
Mr Alexandrides adjourned the charges until December.
“These are serious charges with very serious consequences,” he said.
