WHEN Adelaide fitness guru Kayla Itsines isn’t doing burpees or pushing others to their limits, she can regularly be spotted at her favourite cafes around town.

“Adelaide is full of hidden gems when it comes to healthy eating,” she says.

“Aside from health food stores, there are a range of places you can go to grab a guilt-free meal with family or friends.”

With more than two million followers on Instagram, it’s important for Kayla to constantly train mean and eat clean.

A run along the beach with puppies TJ and Ace is part of her busy weekend schedule but when it comes to a hearty meal, the CBD is where Kayla chooses to stop and revive.

Sushi Planet, 1/60 West Terrace, Adelaide

THIS contemporary Japanese restaurant specialises in making fresh sushi and chargrilled yakitori. While it’s still new on the food scene, it has quickly become one of Kayla’s favourite places to indulge in all things sushi.

“My favourite would have to be the quinoa sushi roll which contains a good amount of carbohydrates and protein, which together keeps you going for the rest of the day.”

The Big Table, Adelaide Central Market

ADELAIDE Central Market is the home of fresh produce and The Big Table is no exception.

It’s been in business for more than 20 years and specialises in baguettes, big breakfasts and wholemeal and flat bread rolls.

“I love going to the markets because there is so much variety,” Kayla says.

“What ever you feel like eating, you’ll probably find it at The Big Table ... they make incredible salads and wraps.”

Goodies + Grains, Central Market Plaza — Shop 21/22 Gouger Street

While roaming the markets, Kayla suggests stopping at Goodies + Grains for superfoods or a freshly squeezed juice.

The health food store stocks a range of organic or conventionally grown herbs, spices, grains, cereals, nuts and more.

“This is a fantastic place to buy superfoods for homemade recipes, as well as delicious, cold-pressed juices,” she says.

The Market Shed on Holland, 1 Holland Street, Adelaide

IF you’re an early bird like Kayla, this bustling, inner-city market may be the place for you.

It’s open every Sunday from 9am and has a large focus on certified organic, sustainable and local produce.

“The Market Shed on Holland has fresh, organic produce, healthy superfoods and a huge variety of meal and drink options for you to enjoy,” she says.

A Mother’s Milk, 105 Unley Road, Unley

LOCATED just five minutes from the CBD, A Mother’s Milk is also on Kayla’s radar when it comes to clean eating.

“It’s my go-to spot for breakfast on the weekend with my partner,” she says.

“I love the people and the food there ... I normally get the Bircher muesli or baked eggs.”
