An Adelaide woman has lost her driver’s licence after being caught riding a Lime electric scooter while drunk.
The 22-year-old Glenelg woman was one of two people caught by police riding the e-scooters drunk in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police today said she returned a breath test of 0.143 after being spotted riding the e-scooter on the road near the intersection of Port and Gaol roads.
Her licence was immediately disqualified for six months and she will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
A 25-year-old Prospect man also riding an e-scooter returned a reading of 0.061 and was issued an expiation notice for exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and failing to wear a helmet.
Police are warn people they will be subject to alcohol testing as part of the trial of the Lime e-scooters that is taking place during the Fringe.
Earlier this month The Advertiser revealed that 10 people were slugged with traffic infringement notices while riding Lime e-scooters at the first weekend of the trial.
Police then said they did not have a breakdown of what the infringements were for.
As part of the permit the 500 e-scooters can only be used in the CBD and the riverbank precinct, and must not travel faster than 15km/h.
They can also only travel on the footpath in some areas and riders must wear helmets and cannot drink ride.
Opponents of the trial say the Lime e-scooters are dangerous following reports overseas that the front wheel on them can lock up for no reason.
