A portion of South Rd will close and traffic diverted to nearby surface roads in the next stage of the $354.3 million Regency Rd to Pym St Project.
By Monday, August 10, traffic will be diverted to the new north and southbound carriageways between Tait St and Packard Ave, Regency Rd and Regency Oval, as well as Overland and Regency roads.
The change allows work to commence on support structures for the Regency Rd overpass, which will connect the South Rd Superway to the Torrens to Torrens project.
Regency Rd to Pym St project (R2P) includes a new 1.8km, six-lane non-stop motorway that will slash travel times by up to eight minutes.
Transport Minister Corey Wingard said opening of the surface roads marked a “milestone” in the project.
“This project is also supporting 210 jobs per year and that’s vital during these extremely tough economic times,” Mr Wingard said.
“R2P is another important project that forms part of our $12.9 billion infrastructure spend over the next four years – a record investment this state has never seen before.”
The R2P project is part of the Federal and State Government’s commitment to build a non-stop 78km North-South Corridor between Gawler and Old Noarlunga.
