Australia’s first brewery inside a casino is set to open in Adelaide this year.
Adelaide Casino has lodged plans with Adelaide City Council to build a microbrewery under a $7 million plan to boost the venue’s entertainment offering.
A “prominent South Australian” brewery would operate the venture, Adelaide Casino general manager David Christian says.
He says the expansion is the “missing part of the puzzle” for the casino, which is currently undergoing a wider $330 million redevelopment.
“The new venue will ensure we can offer a truly unique and diverse entertainment destination for all South Australians and visitors to enjoy,” Mr Christian says.
The development also includes a new mezzanine level in the current outdoor bar, as well as a revamp of the current sports bar and cafe.
The $330 million redevelopment includes a casino expansion and Riverbank 12-storey luxury hotel.

Pending approvals, the brewery should be completed prior to the wider redevelopment’s opening in October 2020.
That milestone will also be celebrated with a new name for the casino – to change from Adelaide Casino to SkyCity Adelaide – and a brand refresh.
The plans are currently with Heritage SA and will go before the Council Assessment Panel at a later date.
The council has been contacted about when the microbrewery application will be assessed.
Construction of a $3.6 billion integrated casino-resort in Brisbane includes a microbrewery, however, it is due to open in 2022.
