PLANS for a 14-storey hotel and serviced apartments on North Terrace have been lodged with the state’s planning authority.

The proposed hotel would be located between The Oaks Embassy and Oaks Horizons buildings, opposite the Adelaide Convention Centre, and built by South Australian developer Emmett Builders.

The Advertiser understands that Quest Apartment Hotels group would operate the venue but the company declined to comment when contacted today.

The site is presently occupied by a vacant two-storey office building.

Emmett managing director Nick Emmett also declined to comment on the application or if Quest was the preferred operator.

Last week the State Commission Assessment Panel approved developer Greaton’s proposal for a luxury 16-storey hotel behind the Adelaide GPO building subject to the company satisfying conditions around the property’s final design.

The hotel is part of a $300 million plus development at the historic precinct, headed by developer Charter Hall, that will involve a $250 million state-of-the-art office tower that will host mining giant BHP.

The Langham Hospitality Group is yet to finalise an agreement to operate the hotel in this proposed $110 milion hotel and apartment project at Glenelg North.
The Langham Hospitality Group is yet to finalise an agreement to operate the hotel in this proposed $110 milion hotel and apartment project at Glenelg North.

It comes as a spokeswoman for international chain the Langham Hospitality Group has told The Advertiser it is yet to finalise a hotel agreement to operate a 146-room hotel at Glenelg North.

The hotel would be part of a $110 million hotel and apartment complex on Adelphi Tce that was approved in June 2016 after receiving major development status.

“Langham Hospitality Group is still under active negotiations with the owner to finalize the terms of the hotel agreements,” Asia Pacific regional director of public relations, Serene Tan, said.

“Details will be provided once everything has been finalized and agreed with the owner.”

The development, spearheaded by former Adelaide United shareholder and businessman Bruno Marveggio, would replace the existing Comfort Inn Haven.

Messenger Newspapers reported in November that construction of the 12-storey development had been delayed by up to six months.
