Another well-known eatery has shut its doors in the city, just days after Adelaide institution Rigoni’s Bistro went into voluntary administration.

Insieme Ristorante on Flinders St has put a letter on its window saying it had closed due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Insieme’s telephone line has been disconnected, and its website and Facebook pages taken down.

It comes after Rigoni’s put itself into voluntary administration over “substantial” tax debts last week.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Insieme Ristorante is now closed,” the handwritten note on the window said.

“Apologies for any inconveniences this may cause you.”

Cos 18 Leigh Street has also shut its doors, however, a new bar and restaurant called Plain Jane Adelaide is set to move in.

Adelaide City Council last month gave Plain Jane permission to spend $40,000 to refurbish the site.

Nearby, Old Friend bar and restaurant was evicted from its Pirie St premises last week after failing to pay more than $120,000 in rent to its landlords.

A notice of re-entry and termination of tenancy, and a warrant to distrain was put on Knice Enterprises doors — which owns Old Friend — as well as a list of items that had been seized.

A deep fryer, Chesterfield lounges, a television and a jukebox were among the items taken.

A company search showed two of the three directors — Brett Viney and Matthew Mitchell — were the directors of The Archer Hotel before it went into administration in October.

Old Friend was previously called Pirie & Co, and before that was part of The Wine Underground.

Recent renovations to the restaurant included a new outdoor dining area complete with a coffee machine to lure in passing foot traffic.

Mr Viney and Mr Langshaw were both contacted for comment.
