A druggie dad who just received $100 from his victim in a service station robbery decided it was a good time to offer him drugs, a court heard.

Clifford Arthur Milera, 27, told the victim he was freshly out of jail before continually threatening him in the bizarre incident.

The District Court heard the victim and his girlfriend were at a Ceduna service station on September 5, 2021.

Milera followed the man into the toilets and demanded money.

“You said ‘How much do you value your life? I’ve got a knife. I’ve got boys outside’,” Judge Gordon Barrett said during sentencing.

“You kept repeating the threat about how much did he value his life. You threatened to kill him.”

The man withdrew $100 from the ATM and gave it to Milera.

“Having taken the money you continued talking to him about offering him illicit drugs,” Judge Barrett said.

“You told him that you had just got out of jail and that you could give him whatever drugs he liked.”

The man’s girlfriend confronted Milera inside the service station but he ran away and was arrested two days later.

The Ceduna father-of-four pleaded guilty to committing theft using force.

The court heard Milera, who was addicted to amphetamines, had previously worked as a bobcat driver and electrician.

“Although it was an opportunistic offence and it involved a small amount of money, you made multiple threats to the victim, causing him to become scared,” Judge Barrett said.

“He says that he is frightened and continues to feel the effects of that night and those threats.”

Judge Barrett sentenced Milera to three years and six months jail, with a non-parole period of two years.

The sentence was backdated to December 7, 2021.
