A Wasleys man allegedly communicated with a minor with the intention of making them “amenable to a sexual activity” this year, a charge sheet reads.
Jimmy James Baxter, 30, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday charged with ten counts of making a communication for a “prurient purpose and with the intention of making a child amendable to a sexual activity”.
He is also charged with one count of making a communication with the intention of “procuring a child to engage in, or submit to, a sexual activity” between June 1 and July 5 this year.
Police also claim on three occasions he knew “that the victim of the offence was, at the time of the offence… under the age of 14 years”, the sheet lodged with the court reads.
The offences allegedly occurred between March 23 and October 19 this year at Wasleys and other places.
On Friday, a police prosecutor told the court Baxter had no history of prior offending.
“He has no history… other than the seriousness of the offending,” the prosecutor said.
He said “electronic evidence” would be examined.
Granting the accused bail, Magistrate Brian Nitschke said Baxter did not appear to be a “flight risk” despite the allegations “involving the internet”.
“He will not engage in any child related work, or apply for any child related work,” Mr Nitschke said.
Baxter, who did not enter a plea or offer any comment on Friday, was bailed to reside at a Wasleys property.
He will next appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on May 31.
