A new five-star luxury Barossa Valley accommodation offering has opened its doors, with its owners claiming a unique experience.

Fine Acres Estate – located in Vine Vale between Tanunda and Angaston – officially opened on Wednesday following a $1m revamp.

The extensively renovated 1870s Barossa homestead was designed by JBG architects and gives guests sweeping views over a working 28-hectare vineyard, in each of its three massive suites.

It can accommodate up to 14 guests and the three stunning suites have been designed to be used as either a communal accommodation space, or alternatively can be divided for separate bookings.

Fine Acres Estate is owned by husband and wife Chris and Sandy Day, alongside three other American partners in the FABAL group

Mrs Day said guests experiencing a private with a vineyard on the doorstep was something new for the Barossa Valley.

“There’s nowhere else where you can hire the whole property and have the whole place to yourself in a working vineyard,” said Mrs Day.

“People can stay here and see people working, and if they’re here in March they’d see the harvesters.”

Guests can expect to see wine being grown before them while drinking the finished Vineyard Road wine from the site, or enjoying chocolate from the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, which is also a part of the FABAL group.

The building itself combines the distinctly Australian architecture of the homestead with Mrs Day’s personal interior decoration which has an American style to reflect the other three partners in the business.

Mr Day said the estate’s location and unique underground cellar was a selling point to guests.

“You’re basically equidistant to every major town in the Barossa where we are, you’re close yet your still in a rural setting,” said Mr Day

“We’ve got one of the only underground cellars for a working winery in the region where you can actually explore and have dinner parties, it’s just absolute immersion in the best Australian wine region.”

Mr Day’s son, star Gold Coast Suns footballer Sam Day, was the accommodation’s first guest following his wedding at the estate on New Year’s Eve.

“We’d really encourage wedding parties to consider staying here as a big group, it’s just beautiful,” said Mr Day.

The five-star estate’s opening saw many notable Barossa identities in attendance including Maggie Beer, Barossa Mayor Bim Lange and local MP Stephan Knoll.
