The world renowned Barossa wine region has added another iconic pit stop to the map with its first FruChoc shop opening just in time for Christmas.
The new look flagship store, located on the Tanunda main strip, marks a new era for the cult-favourite complete with a Great Wall of FruChocs, chocolate dripping walls and on-site handmade chocolate production.
Menz Confectionery chief executive, Phil Sims, said it was a wonderful day for the Tanunda community with the store creating multiple jobs and giving visitors the opportunity to experience one of South Australia’s favourite treats.
It comes after the Barossa Chocolate company opened a factory and cellar door in 2019, with the region quickly becoming a must-see for chocolate enthusiasts.
“The iconic pairing of FruChocs and the Barossa wine region is so unique, you won’t experience anything like it anywhere else in the state,” Mr Sims said.
“We’re pleased to provide local jobs to the community, and look forward to welcoming locals and visitors to experience this space.”
Visitors can even watch chocolate being made by staff at the back of the store.
Adelaide customer James Wildson visited on opening day and said it was exciting to see.
“It’s really good here, it’s good vibes, I’ve bought two pairs of socks and some chocolate to send to my mate in Perth,” he said.
Barossa local Megan Applebee is the new store manager and said she was thrilled to take on the role.
“I’m honestly passionate about the local community and can’t wait to see familiar and new faces when they visit this colourful store, it’s so vibrant here,” Ms Applebee said.
Lovers of Menz Confectionery’s other brands, including Violet Crumble, Bumbles, JeliChocs and Crown Mints, will also be able to get their fix at the new store.
The Tanunda FruChoc Shop is located at 59 Murray St and open seven days a week from 10am until 5pm.
