After a tumultuous 2020, many Adelaide council’s aren’t letting COVID-19 impact how they celebrate Australia Day.
From free breakfasts and barbecues to live music and multicultural performances, we’ve rounded up Adelaide’s best Australia Day events.

AUSTRALIA DAY EVENTS 2021
Adelaide City Council: Free event at Adelaide Central Market between 11am and 2pm. Traditional smoking ceremony, live cooking demonstrations, interactive art and craft workshops. Free event at Rundle Mall between 11am and 2pm. Includes live music and participatory art.
Burnside Council: Brunch from 9am at Hazelwood Park. Includes citizenship ceremony, entertainment and Citizen of the Year awards. Enter from Davenport Terrace.
Campbelltown Council: Free community event from 11am at 172 Montacute Road, Rostrevor. Includes Citizen of the Year awards, food and family friendly entertainment.
Charles Sturt Council: Invite only event.
Gawler Council: Free breakfast at the Kingsford Hotel, Prince Albert Hotel and Exchange Hotel from 8am. All hotels will broadcast Australia Day Awards and citizenship ceremonies. Bookings essential.
Holdfast Bay Council: Breakfast for purchase from Kiwanis Glenelg at Glenelg Beach from 7.30am. Followed by citizenship and Citizen of the Year awards from 9am.
Marion Council: Free community event from 11am to 2pm at Hendrie Street Reserve, Park Holme. Includes didgeridoo performance, Aboriginal dancers, Aboriginal crafts, live music, ball sports and roving entertainment. Bring your own picnic or food and refreshments available from food trucks.
Mitcham Council: Free barbecue and desserts from around the world from 9am at St Marys park, Laura Avenue. Live performances from various cultural groups, citizenship ceremony and Citizen of the Year Awards.
Norwood, Payneham & St Peters Council: Invite only event.
Onkaparinga Council: Free breakfasts from 8am at Symonds Reserve, Aldinga Beach; Ramsay Place, Noarlunga Centre; The Old Court House, Willunga and Happy Valley Sports Park. Includes entertainment and children’s activities.
Playford Council: Free breakfast from 8am at X Convenience Oval, Elizabeth. Includes Australia Day Awards, free rides, live entertainment and ‘come and try’ netball, tennis and football. Bookings essential.
Port Adelaide Enfield Council: Invite only event.
Prospect Council: Invite only event.
Salisbury Council: Free breakfast from 8am at the Salisbury Community Hub and Civic Plaza. Includes free activities, novelty games, entertainment and live music. Australia Day Awards from 8.30am and citizenship ceremony from 10am.
Tea Tree Gully Council: Invite only event.
Unley Council: Citizenship and awards ceremonies from 9.30am at Village Green, Oxford Terrace, Unley. Free sausage sizzle, live music and children’s entertainment between 11am and 2pm.
Walkerville Council: Invite only event.
West Torrens Council: Invite only event
