A woman accused of posing as bushfire victim to attain $300 worth of donations from others has told a court she will fight charges.
Sarah Treloar, 39, of Murray Bridge, appeared in the Murray Bridge Court on Monday.
She was charged with one count of attempting to deceive another person, and three counts of having deceived another person, to benefit herself.
The charges relate to alleged offences committed by Treloar on December 22, 24 and 25 last year, in Murray Bridge.
Police will allege Ms Treloar falsely claimed to be a victim of the recent Cudlee Creek bushfires so that she could obtain donations to the value of $300 from a church in the Adelaide Hills.
They will also allege she attempted to deceive shops in Murray Bridge, posing as a bushfire victim.
On Monday, Treloar’s counsel told the court his client would contest the charges and asked she be excused from the next hearing due to “personal circumstances”.
Magistrate Paul Bennett agreed, ordering the case return to court next month.
Treloar declined to speak to the media outside court.
