Low interest rates and first home buyer incentives are driving a turnaround in land sales across Mount Barker.
Following a slow start to the year due to COVID-19 restrictions, developers have reported one of their busiest June quarters in history – both for land sales and subdivisions. Lot sales have jumped by 400 per cent at Newenham Estate, while Glenlea has struck a new cord with first home buyers.
Subdivisions are also on the rise in Mount Barker, with 25 new parcels created through May – the highest figure recorded in SA.
Newenham Sales and Marketing Director Olivia Burke said demand for land was a direct result of the Federal Government’s HomeBuilder initiative.
“We’ve achieved four months’ worth of sales in June alone and … anecdotally, I understand that developers, not just in Mount Barker but across the state, are experiencing similar achievements,” she said.
“This spike has led us to release every available block in The Homestead Land Release, which is the final release in the first stage of Newenham.”
