Cupid’s Koi Garden, the world’s first inflatable fountain, to take over Mt Barker park as part of Adelaide Festival

The world’s first inflatable fountain will dominate a Hills park early next year as part of Adelaide Festival.

A popular Hills park is promising plenty of cheer with the installation of the world’s first inflatable fountain.

Mount Barker Council and the Adelaide Festival have joined forces for a six-day instalment of Cupid’s Koi Garden by art and technology company ENESS – a 5m-high giant fountain that will take over Keith Stephenson Park from March 9.

The free installation, which features 360-degree tracking technology, is centred around a gigantic cupid and 10 oversized goldfish that squirt visitors with water jets.

The installation will be supported by food vendors and open daily 10am-10pm.

The council’s planning and development manager Marc Voortman said he hoped the installation would bring much-needed visitors.

“It also acts as an important trigger for visitors to choose to come to Mt Barker and invest in local tourism and businesses,” Mr Voortman said.

The council paid $50,000 to bring Cupid’s Koi Garden, which has previously been displayed in Melbourne’s Federation Square.

The Mount Barker district will also host eight Fringe Festival shows in February and March.

“Art and cultural events provide a vital contribution to community wellbeing,” Mr Voortman said.

“They bring people together, engage our imagination and create experiences that can be shared by everyone in our community.”
