South Aussie TV personality Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello is known for showcasing the state’s best tourism offerings.
But now, he and wife Samantha are ready to introduce visitors to their own slice of paradise.
The couple have lodged plans with the Adelaide Hills Council to establish six luxury boutique cabins at their 91ha sheep farm in Woodside with construction to commence in eight weeks.
Each cabin will be completely off grid with two bedrooms and a generous floor space of 120sq m.
Guests will also be able to collect their own farm fresh eggs and honey.
Mr Costello said the cabins would be one of the most luxurious accommodation offerings in the state.
“I’ve spent a decade showcasing various tourism accommodation, places and products around South Australia and the world and my wife and I have taken those experiences and rolled them into one concept,” he said.
“So we’ll be offering off the grid-style accommodation … where you’re in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by rolling hills and a creek through the middle in the wetter months.
“In the summer, with the big old gum trees, you almost feel like you’re in the Flinders Ranges without having to travel three hours.
“It’s my little patch of paradise, I love it so much and have always thought of sharing that experience we have out there with other people – and soon we can.”
The project is being supported by a $415,909 State Government Tourism Development grant with Scott Salisbury Homes coming on board as the builder.
“We want as much of the expenditure done through South Australians and try to source everything from here, so it’s going to be really great when it’s all done,” he said.
“Initially, we’ll start with two cabins and then go from there.
“We’ll also aim to showcase local produce and wine and offer different experiences to people.
“So a wine maker may come out and sit on your deck and run you through a flight of wine that’s been produced in the area.
“We really want it to be something special.”
