SATURDAY - MARCH 27
Man dies in Birdwood fatal
Police are investigating a fatal crash at Birdwood.
Just after 3.30pm on Saturday, police and emergency services were called to Onkaparinga Valley Road, just south of Birdwood after a Mazda sedan hit a tree and burst into flames.
The driver and sole occupant, a 20-year-old man from the Adelaide Hills, died in the crash.
Onkaparinga Valley Road was closed between Muellers Road and Burfords Hill Road for most of the evening while investigators from Major Crash examined the scene but was reopened about 10.30pm.
The man’s death brings the total of lives list in SA to 32 compared to 30 for the same time last year.
THURSDAY - MARCH 26
Two arrested in Gawler Street
Police in Mount Barker arrested two people after being seen loitering near businesses in the early hours of Thursday morning.
About 1am on Thursday, a patrol saw a man and woman looking in the window of a business on Gawler Street, Mount Barker.
The couple then started to walk away, but were stopped and spoken to by police.
The man allegedly provided a false name, but was quickly identified by a fingerprint scanner.
His car was located nearby; containing a taser, two machetes and drug equipment.
The 47-year-old Craigmore man and a 33-year-old Kilburn woman were arrested and charged with carry offensive weapon and possess prohibited weapon.
The man was also charged with stating false details.
They bailed to appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court on June 24.
WEDNESDAY - MARCH 25
Serious crash on fatal Hills intersection
Three people were lucky to escape serious injuries after yet another crash at a notorious Adelaide Hills intersection this week.
A 4WD smashed into the side of a van at the cross-intersection of Martin Hill, Lucky Hit and Warren roads in Birdwood just before 6pm on Wednesday.
The force of the impact caused the van to roll into a paddock.
Two women, aged in their 30s and 40s, and one man in his mid 20s were all taken to hospital following the incident, but their injuries were not serious.
Local officers are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
It comes less than two weeks after a two-month-old baby boy from Melbourne was killed in a crash at the same intersection.
TUESDAY - MARCH 24
Intruder disturbed at Mount Barker break-in
Police are investigating a break-in at a home in Mount Barker that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Just after 4.20am on Tuesday, Police attended a home on Victoria Road after reports that the occupant had disturbed a male intruder in his house.
The resident confronted the intruder and he left the house on foot.
A search of the area by Police failed to locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as being approximately 175 cm tall, thin build, and he was wearing a dark coloured beanie.
No property was stolen from the house on this occasion, however the same house was broken into between January and March this year, while the occupant was away.
Stolen on that occasion were two televisions, two computer screens, a DVD player, alcohol, CDs and DVDs.
Property including gardening equipment was also stolen from the victim’s shed.
