Retired country police officer to face court on child sex offences after arrest last month

A former country police officer has been charged with child sex offences after being arrested in June.

A former country police officer has been charged with child sex offences.

On June 29, SA Police arrested a former police officer for allegedly communicating to make a child amenable to child sex activity, 7NEWS reported.

The offending allegedly occurred between May 15 and June 5 in the Murraylands.

In a statement on June 29, SA Police said detectives from the Special Crimes Investigation Section arrested a 71-year-old Murraylands man.

The retired officer is heavily involved in a number of local sporting organisations, 7NEWS reported.

Police urged anyone with information about people involved in child exploitation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or crimestopperssa.com.au.

The former officer was bailed to face Berri Magistrates Court on August 7.
