Especially when it’s a little bit – or a lot – fancy.
From bottomless Champagne to $210-worth of caviar, these are Adelaide’s six best fancy brunches. And you thought smashed avo was posh.
MAGILL ESTATE RESTAURANT
Location: 78 Penfold Rd, Magill
Price point: $180
Launched with a VIP soiree attended by newly appointed MasterChef judge Poh Ling Yeow and Rose Adam and Laura Sharrad, Magill Estate’s Champagne Brunch is so exclusive that it is only available on the last Sunday of every month.
Chef Scott Huggins has created 12 courses with dishes designed to “evolve with seasonality and availability”.
They include quail-egg croque madame and take on the BLT that has “theatre and flavour as crispy bacon strips are doused with iced lettuce frozen with liquid nitrogen”.
There’s also avocado on toast with caviar!
All this fancy food can be washed down with a “curated list” of Champagnes, which are available by the glass or bottle, along with cocktails, for some extra dosh.
“I felt Adelaide was missing something truly special in the way of a brunch offering,” Huggins said.
“It’s not always practical to celebrate special occasions in the evening, so a midmorning to midafternoon experience with a high-end menu that considers this has been something I’ve been thinking about for a while”. It will set you back $180 per person, plus drinks.
HEY JUPITER
Location: 11 Ebenezer Pl, Adelaide
Price point: From $145 deal for two
Cheers to this French bistro in Adelaide’s East End, which was a finalist in the “Best Steaks” category in the 2023 delicious. 100 list.
Hey Jupiter’s breakfast cocktails give new meaning to the old excuse “It’s five o’clock somewhere”.
They include a bloody mary, with French vodka and harissa, for $19, a breakfast martini for $23, which has Tanqueray, Cointreau, orange marmalade and lemon, and a Kir Royal Au Champagne, with French bubbles and crème de cassis, which will set you back a cool $29. You can get a brunch deal for two, which includes boiled free range eggs, pastries and toast, ham, comté, Bonne Maman jam, Harris smoked salmon, fresh fruit, coffee or tea, juice and a 375mL bottle of Louis Roederer Champagne for $145. Or, if you would rather have fished eggs, than a boiled egg, you could always order the Caviar Oscietre for $210, which will get you 30g “with trimmings”.
SOL ROOFTOP
Location: SkyCity Adelaide, Adelaide
Price point: $99-$179
Say bottoms up to two hours of bottomless Alpha Box & Dice Tarot prosecco, Sol Spritz and Mimosa in the city, with Sol Rooftop’s Bottomless Brunch for $99 per person.
That nice price gets you three tiers of food including lemon mousse, SA lobster frittata, prosciutto puff and charred focaccia, to name a few, and the bottomless bevvies.
But wait … there’s more.
For an extra $30 per person you can upgrade to Violetta, St Hendrix and Aperol spritzes, or for $50 per person you can have the Champagne upgrade, which gives you two hours of bottomless NV Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Yellow Label Brut Champagne or for an extra $80 per person there’s the Champagne and Spritz upgrade, which gets you both.
The bottomless brunch packages are available on Saturdays and Sundays between 11am and 3pm.
And should you fancy some more responsible day drinking you will also be entitled to a $49 discounted price for Sol’s Day Club, a three-hour beverage package from 3pm to 6pm.
MAYFAIR HOTEL
Location: 45 King William St, Adelaide
Price point: $99-$119
Famous for its sweet choux swans and decadent decor, Hennessy Rooftop Bar in the city is taking brunch to the next level in November with its Spritzes & Sparkling Bottomless Brunch Series.
Only available on two Saturdays – November 11 and November 25 – there’s two option; the $119 per person Bottomless Spritzes & Sparkling Package and the $99 per person Bottomless Sparkling Package.
For two hours – between noon and 2pm – you can indulge in “brunch classics” such as sweet corn fritters and egg and bacon breakfast sliders.
There’s also a chocolate fondue station and bottomless bevvies such as South Australian sparkling and spring spritzes, house wine and tap beer – depending on which package you choose.
You can enjoy it all while taking in city views and listening to a soundtrack courtesy of Hennessy’s House DJ.
And should you want to have a brunch “after-party” the venue is open – and tunes spinning – all afternoon.
SOFITEL ADELAIDE
Location: 108 Currie St, Adelaide
Price point: $99
It’s beginning to look and taste a lot like Christmas at city restaurant Garcon Bleu, which is not only tastefully decorated but also hosting a Festive Buffet de Brunch every Saturday between 12.30pm and 2.30pm until December 23.
It’s $99 per person which includes silly season sweets and eats such as cranberry twists, pistachio and chocolate yule log, mince pies, Christmas puddings, Barossa double smoked ham and Turkey roulade.
Plus there’s made-to-order crepes, including Suzette, with caramelised sugar, orange, butter and Grand Marnier liqueur.
Speaking of tipples, the $99 package’s drinks are tres delicieux (that’s French for very delicious), cold-pressed juices, mimosas, sparkling wine and bloody marys, including non-alcoholic ones.
And, just so you know, after Christmas, Garcon Bleu’s Buffet de Brunch – also on Saturdays – is back on the menu. Bon Appetit.
SOCIETY BAR
Location: 279 Rundle St, Adelaide
Price point: $79-$99
If you’ve ever had to skip brunch with your besties because you have a food intolerance you are going to love what this East End eatery has brought to the table.
Society Bar’s Bottomless Brunch caters to pretty much everyone thanks to its four tiers of gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegetarian, vegan and pescetarian dishes.
They include the kingfish ceviche, with coconut nam jim, sweet seseme and whipped coconut, charred broccolini, with pecorino, lemon, sweet sesame and pavlova, with seasonal fruit and yuzu chantilly.
Available on Sundays between 11am and 3pm, the 90 minute brunch sitting has two options; one for $79 per person that includes free flowing prosecco and mimosas plus mocktails and another with bottomless breakfast cocktails for $99 per person.
