When you’re doing your shopping at Woolies, chances are you’re too busy focusing on finding the best bargain and ticking everything off your shopping list to ever think about what song is playing in the store.

But, after a few videos of one song in particular have gone viral, shoppers have started to notice a trend, and we’ve got all the inside info on why that is.

“3pm baby!”

Earlier this week, an Aussie woman on TikTok as @abbyontour97 took to TikTok to share a little-known fact.

“Did you know that ‘pump it up’ plays at 3pm in every Woolworths every day,” she wrote.

“I saw it on a TikTok once so I always listen out for it and it’s true! 3pm baby.”

Since then, a number of people have posted similar videos sharing the same thing, as they’ve noticed the song playing at 3pm in different stores across the country.

But, the video Abby may have been referring to was posted in November last year by Woolworths Logan Reserve, which showed employees at the Queensland location dancing to the song, which they clarified begins at 3.02pm.

“How did I not notice this?”

Commenters on Abby’s video were floored by the realisation.

“Heading to Woolies at 3pm. Will report back,” said one commenter.

“As a woolies worker you’ve ruined my 3pm starts,” said another.

“How did I work at Woolies for 4 years and not notice this,” a third said.

Others, even some who worked at Woolies, said they’d noticed the trend, but had no idea why it was happening.

“As a Woolies employee we actually have no idea why it plays everyday at 3pm as far as we know it means nothing,” said one commenter.

What is the reason!

Thankfully we’ve got confirmation from Woolworths to confirm just why this happens.

According to a spokesperson from Woolworths, they’ve been playing the song at 3.02pm for quite some time now, for a very simple reason.

“It's really just to let the team know to get ready for the after school rush to make sure shelves are stocked, store is tidy and that store will be busy with shoppers,” they said.

So, next time you head in for your after school grocery run, keep an ear out!
