Woman's disgusting find inside her blender is worse than you could imagine

One person said, "OMG, I thought it was just going to be mould. This is so much worse."

How often should you clean your blender?

If the answer isn't immediately obvious to you (every time, wash it EVERY time) then you may find yourself in a similar boat to Niki Detrich.

The TikToker found herself "traumatised" after she made a stomach-churning discovery inside her blender.

She now wants to urge her followers to make sure they wash theirs thoroughly.

"Check on your blender y'all"

Niki posted the clip, which now has over 1.8 million views, with the caption: "Check on your blender y'all.

"Thank you for your thoughts and prayers at this time."

Delving straight into it she says she had the "most traumatic thing happen" to her today. 

"I need to do a quick PSA. If you are the type of person who doesn't fully wash your blender blades, you need to listen to this because I'm... I'm not doing okay."

She then explains that she usually just washes her blender with "hot water" after every use but only every three times she'll give it a proper clean with soap ("maybe").

"You might be thinking, Niki, what the hell is wrong with you, you need to use soap," Niki says as if reading our minds.

She then tries to rationalise to her audience, and probably herself, that she feels like" hot water gets all the crud off if you do it every day, like - why do we need to wash it?"

Well, she finally learnt why.

"I had little maggots," she says, pointing to a video of small larvae wiggling around in the grooves of her blender lid near the blades.  

"So gross," she squeals. 

"It's probably because I don't wash it out. I think my educated guess is that it's fruit fly larvae that laid eggs there.

"So wash your blades - don't be like me."

"I would never recover"

Commenters were sent into a frenzy, with many agreeing that, "This is so much worse than what my imagination was thinking."

One person said, "OMG, I thought it was just going to be mould. This is so much worse."

Another pointed out, "Why did you think it's okay to only wash your blender after three uses, though?"

"I'm genuinely so disturbed, I don't think I'd ever recover," a different TikToker wrote. 

You'd hope she would throw the blender away but in this follow-up video, she confirms that she most definitely hasn't.

Instead, she says that she's given it a good clean and she thinks she's "got 'em all."

"I want to show you why you can't unscrew the blades to clean it," she explains.

Niki says that her 'Beast Health Blender' is "kind of like a Nutribullet. But the [blade] can't go in the dishwasher because it's more mechanical.

"I can't take it apart either. I've tried everything and there's no way to detach it. I will make sure to actually clean inside the grooves though."
