Vintage Vibes festival at Tomich Wines postponed by organisers

Organisers of an upcoming music festival have announced it will be postponed, citing “supply chain issues” as the reason for their decision.

A music festival at an Adelaide Hills winery has been postponed just two weeks out from the event, with organisers blaming “supply chain issues” for the decision.

Vintage Vibes festival was due to go ahead at Tomich Wines at Woodside, in the Adelaide Hills, on January 27 and 28, but organisers took to social media on Wednesday night to announce those dates had been scrapped.

International headliners Rudimental and Groove Armada were set to line up alongside local acts DMA’s, Meg Mac and Cub Sport.

The event had only just announced the addition of local indie rockers Ball Park Music to the line-up last month.

“This decision has not been made lightly; however, current economic pressures have created a landscape within which the festival cannot proceed this month,” organisers said.

“Increased pressure on supply chains, especially to venues outside the CBD, alongside shifts in economic climates reflect the broader challenges many are facing within the industry.

“It has become clear that moving forward with the event in two weeks would not meet the high standards of experiences we promise our attendees, artists, and partners.”

A number of attendees took to social media to voice their frustration at the news, with many saying they had not received email correspondence informing them of the event’s postponement.

Last year’s inaugural Vintage Vibes event — headlined by Gang of Youths and Tash Sultana — was backed by a $50,000 music festival grant unveiled by the state government in 2022, as part of its See It LIVE industry package to revive SA’s live music scene post-Covid.

The event was backed by not-for-profit Arts & Entertainment South Australia.

Event organisers said refunds would be available through Oztix but urged patrons to hold onto their tickets, as they would be rolled over for the rescheduled event later this year.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported Vintage Vibes Festival – from our patrons and artists to our dedicated staff and the local community and we are already planning and excited for what will come,” they said.

The announcement comes after two major festivals,Wildlands and Heaps Good, successfully hit the Adelaide Showgrounds and Ellis Park, off West Tce — but just a day after a Victorian beachside festival cancelled at the 11th hour.

Popular festival Coastal Jam was due to go ahead on January 13, but announced it would be canned due to “last minute sales”.

Last year, organisers of Falls Festival announced its 2023/2024 event would not be going ahead – the third time in four years the event had been scrapped, following two Covid pandemic cancellations.
