It’s the only South Australian town to make the list of must-see Australian destinations by a top travel brand.

Murray Bridge has ranked in at number seven on a list of top Aussie towns for domestic tourism by travel company Wotif.

The “heart of the Murraylands” has been hailed as one of the top 10 places to visit in the nation by travel Wotif, because of its proximity to the largest safari park outside of Africa at Monarto, its “breathtaking” riverfront scenery, and being one of the best places in the country to look up and take in the night sky.

The unique charm and thriving community of Murray Bridge is what makes it stand out, Murray Bridge Mayor Wayne Thorley said.

“We’re thrilled to welcome visitors from around Australia and the world to experience what makes our town so special,” he said.

“This accolade is fantastic for our community.

“We’re ready to showcase our local attractions, from the expansive Monarto Safari Park, the largest open-range zoo outside of Africa, to our well-loved river and natural landscapes that provide incredible recreational and tourism experiences on our iconic riverfront.”

Murray Bridge was the only South Australian town to rank in the Wotif 2025 Aussie Town of the Year Awards.

Other towns that made the list were Port Stephens, NSW; Cairns, QLD; Mandurah, WA; Denmark, WA; Beechworth, VIC; Port Campbell, VIC; Kingscliff, NSW; Yamba, NSW; and Mackay, QLD.

Aussie Town of the Year is about celebrating the destinations and world class travel experiences in our own backyard, Wotif travel expert Rebecca Hurley said.

“Aussies are spoilt for choice and by all accounts, 2025 promises to be a positive year for domestic travel,” she said.

“With Easter and the school holidays just around the corner, now is the perfect time to lock in a short break.”
