Anzac Day 2023: Road closures and shops still open on the public holiday

In line with Anzac Day marches and memorials a range of major city roads and shops will be closed. See which ones.

ANZAC Day march set to begin in Adelaide with an expected attendance of around 5,000

A range of city roads will be closed to accommodate Anzac Day marches and memorials, while some of our largest retailers will be shutting their doors for the day too.

North Tce between King William St and Pulteney St will be taken out for a majority of the day, with a closure taking place from 4am to 7pm while North Tce between Adelaide Railway Station and Frome St will be closed from 7am to 1pm.

Parts of both Pulteney St and Grenfell St are closed between 7am and 12pm – Pulteney St between North Tce and Flinders St, including Hindmarsh Square and Grenfell St between Gawler Place and Frome St, also including Hindmarsh Square.

King William Rd between North Tce and Kermode St and King William St between North Tce and Hindley St will be closed from 7am to 1pm as well as Sir Edwin Smith Ave between King William Rd and Kermode St.

While Victoria Drive between King William Rd and Kintore Ave will be closed by 4am and 1pm.

Whether you’re attending a dawn service or working straight through, it’s handy to know which supermarkets and retail centres are open.

SUPERMARKETS

Costco

The member-based warehouse store will be closed an Anzac Day.

Adelaide Central Markets

The Adelaide Central Markets, with all of its variety of stalls, will be closed for the public holiday.

Foodland

Foodland stores across South Australia will be open to the public.

Woolworths

Woolworths regional and Rundle Mall stores will remain open on Anzac Day but Millicent and metropolitan stores will be closed.

Woolworths advises customers to look up opening hours of individual stores.

Coles

Coles stores will be closed around SA with the Rundle Place location to open from 12 to 5pm.

Certain regional locations will be open from 12 to 8pm such as Port Lincoln, Whyalla and Victor Harbor.

IGA

As each IGA store owner has the discretion to keep or change their trading hours on public holidays, the opening times for stores across the state will differ.

Drakes

All metropolitan Drakes stores are on April 25 with only select Drakes Minis and regional locations open from 12pm.

ALDI

The supermarket chain advises customers to check their individual locations for opening hours as they differ between stores.

RETAIL STORES

Harbour Town

The premium outlet centre will be open from 12pm to 5pm.

Colonnades Shopping Centre

The Noarlunga Centre shopping precinct will be closed.

Elizabeth City Centre

Elizabeth City Centre will be closed.

Myer

The store in the city will be open from 12pm to 5pm but locations in Marion and Tea Tree Plaza will be closed.
