The Royal Adelaide Show gates are set to open at 9am Saturday, and a show insider has tipped the showbags which will sell out the fastest.

The countdown has officially started for the Royal Adelaide Show, and that means one thing – it’s nearly showbag time.

And The Advertiser has been given the hot tip on which showbag is expected to sell out on day one.

Drumroll please, showgoers … it’s the Bertie Beetle and the Bertie Beetle Retro showbag, which is celebrating its 60th birthday this year.

It comes as the Bertie Beetle and the Bertie Beetle Retro showbag sold out on day one at the Ekka, Queensland’s show in August, and is expected to do the same for Adelaide.

Ekka spokeswoman Veronica Carew said: “Other bestsellers included the Matildas and Fantales showbags, which sold out within three days.”

Another big hit is expected to be Barbie Dreamtopia, which has spiked in popularity off the back of the blockbuster movie, Barbie.

The Royal Adelaide Show will kick off on Saturday, September 2, and run until Sunday, September 17, and showbags have always been the star of the show.
